It spoke volumes to me and gave me some ideas to implement, especially at this time in my life. so here is the link enjoy!!!

Whats in your Kindle?

I do a lot of reading on a daily basis, I try to read at least 5 books a month. Sometimes I do more sometimes less, and there is always a mixture. A little something to keep my eyes on the prize, A little something to help me escape reality, and a little something to help me improve skills I have or want to do better with. So here is a list of what I'm reading right now... Whats in your Kindle???

For the Mind

1. The Science of getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattle  (yep its over there on your right in the HeyGyrl Book corner, I read this book at least once a month it keeps me sane and keeps me focused. It is only about 65 pages and its free so I suggest everyone read. Its not just about money so dont judge it by the title, trust me you will enjoy) http://www.xtrememind.com/science.pdf <----- for the freeski lol

For Fun

2. Sucker for Love by J.T. Smith (Cute story so far. I'm not finished yet, and was experimenting with an author I had never heard of but so far so good. I think I got it for 99cent on Amazon.com

For Relationships:

3. The 5 Love Languages by Gary D. Chapman (Very good information not only for your love life, but helps with friends and family as well... another Amazon.com purchase)

For Improvement

4. Always Know What To Say- Easy Ways To Approach and Talk To Anyone by Peter W. Murphy (to some people I'm extremely quiet lol and to others I talk a LOT but sometimes at networking events or when I am sitting in the homes of my clients I get a little self conscious of my conversational skills so I am always looking for ways to improve. This was a quick read and very helpful. Check it out.

Well thats all for now...

I Love who??? LOL

This is so random, and a lot of people don't know this about me, I don't even know if my closest friends know, but when I was a child I absolutely adored Lucille Ball. I have seen every episode of I Love Lucy known to man and when I was about 5 or 6 I would tell people that when I grew up I was going to change my name to I Love Lucy, no not Lucy, not Lucille Ball, but my entire name was going to be I Love Lucy. There are many reasons why I love her now in my adulthood, but as a child I simply loved her because I thought she was HILARIOUS. Little did I know that she, along with her husband Desi Arnez would revolutionize television as we know it today. Here are some facts about Lucy Desi Empire!

1. Lucy was not only a genius performer, but a smart, innovative businesswoman: she and husband/co-star Desi Arnaz introduced the idea of syndicating TV shows, and she was the first woman to own her own film studio (Desilu).

2. After 2 decades spent trying to become a movie superstar, Lucille Ball was 40 years old when she finally became a Hollywood Player with the debut of 'I Love Lucy' in 1951.

3. Lucy is in the National Women's Hall of Fame, which includes just one other TV star: Oprah Winfrey.

4. Lucy was an uncredited producer on the 1983 Tom Cruise football drama 'All the Right Moves. 'Her second husband, Gary Morton, had co-produced the film via Lucy's Lucille Ball Productions.

5. Among the other TV series produced by Desilu: 'Star Trek,' 'The Untouchables' and 'Mission: Impossible.'

Lucy would have been 100 years old on August 6th, so here is a HAPPY HAPPY Belated birthday to one of my idols.

Communication

A couple of weeks back I stumbled upon an article on Pinterest entitled 10 Things that have made all the difference. It came from a blog written by a husband and wife called Today's love letters. In reading the article they were reflecting on their 5 year anniversary, and as a result came up with this list of 10 things that have improved their marriage. Under 1 of they headings they stated that the first 2 years of their marriage that they struggled to feel loved by one another because they didnt know how to communicate their needs, because of that they came up with 5 questions that they now ask each other every Sunday no matter what, and that it has made all the difference in the world. Here are the 5 questions:

1. How did you feel loved this past week?
2. What does your upcoming week look like?
3. How would you feel most loved and encouraged in the days ahead?
4. How would you best feel pursued in sex/ intimacy this week?
5. How can I pray for you this week?

I thought that this was a pretty neat idea at least to try and see how it works in your relationship. Lets face it, in most relationships are lacking in communication in some form. It is always great to get ideas from other couples to see how they deal with various issues. In addition to this couple asking the 5 questions above, they also stated that they interview each other all the time, because no matter how long you have been with someone you will never know everything about them. Here is a link to check out the entire article, http://www.todaysletters.com/2010/05/10-things-that-have-made-all-difference.html?m=1 ... Enjoy!!!

Almost 30...

I don't know if it is just me, but the picture above describes exactly how I feel. I am 2 years from 30, (well, maybe a year and a half lol) but I don't feel like I have accomplished anywhere near what I set out to when I embarked on this journey called life 10 years ago. You know when you leave home for college and you have this "plan", graduate in 4 years, working professional (using your degree for what it is), married, kids, house, traveling. You know the life we see played out on television, or the life our parents either had or told us we should have. Then you graduate, some us go right back to school for advanced degrees, some "take a break", some (1 of 100) end up with a career in their intended field, but even those people after a couple of years of work begin to ask themselves is this it? Is this all their is to life? There has got to be more. I know I am not the only one who feels this way, so I decided to speak out about it. I know that I am no where near what I want to be doing, But, what is stopping me, us? Fear? Procrastination? Lack of a plan? listening to the naysayers? It could be all of the above, or it could be one or 2, but whatever is, what are you going to do about it? I had a conversation with a really close friend of mine last weekend and we discussed this topic. She said she had gotten to a point where she was asking herself what am I doing. But, she also said in the same breath that she asked herself that question she immediately came up with a plan of attack. She said it is one thing to wallow in self pity and say woe is me, everyone is allotted their time to vent, but are you going to complain about it and stay in the same situation or are you going to do something about it? I say all of this to say, if you are in the same boat as me and so many others out there who are wondering if this is all life has to offer, take one day drink a glass of wine and have a pity party, but come out of that party with a plan on what the next 5 years of your life will look like. If you liked the last 5, keep doing what you are doing, but if you want the next 5 to be extraordinary, you are going to have to give extraordinary. You cant keep doing the same things you have been doing the past 5 years and think that something is going to change. I'll leave you with some advice someone gave me yesterday because I tend to be a very passive person, I was told that in order to get the things that I want, that I need to be aggressive about it all, don't just say you want to do something and "hope" that it happens, go out and make it happen, NOW... Just do it (lol, kinda cliche and corny, but that is some of the best advice you will ever get.). Anywho, leave a comment, let me know how you're feeling
